Excuse me, that this has taken so long, but we had to repeat the reconstruction steps several times to be sure. We found many new surprising details and this seems to be only a smaller part of the “big picture".
The calculations via Google Maps had shown that the entire geological structure has an inclination. The corresponding angle along the structure (8°) is smaller than the overall average angle of the mountain slope. It is important to know that the area, in which this anomaly is, has a lower inclination. The low inclination angle increases the probability that there are some areas, within the anomaly, that lie horizontally. This would give the basins a meaningfull function and it also reinforces the assumption that the trenches were used to transport water. Of course, a supply line with water, is even possible without an inclination, however it simplifies the distribution of water quickly and targeted.
Water plays a very important role here. Only by the assumption that the basins were filled with water, it was possible to reconstruct the shape of geoglyphs completely. But this raises an important question: Where did the water came from?
The reconstructions steps have revealed that we have in the investigated image section three possible basins. The distribution of the basins suggest that the source of the water should be located somewhere in the middle, between these basins. And indeed, there is an odd structure in the middle of them.
The structure shows straight lines and some bright small dots. In connection with the trenches and the basins, it could be the source of the water. But not a natural water source, but a water pump station. This is of course pure speculation. A bold theory, but not unfounded. There are several indications for a pipe system. The comparison with terrestrial examples of water pump stations is very usefull.
Of course it is diffcult to determine which function each of these objects have, but there is the possibility that this structure represents more than just a simple water pump station. It might have to do with some kind of water treatment. The small circular structures could represent tanks. They have a diameter of almost 9 meters. The following images are examples of multi-function water stations and show conceptual similarities with the "station" on Terby.
The next step was the reconstruction of the watercourse. Figuring out the correct course of the water was a diffcult task and during the reconstruction, we came across several irregularities. On one hand we have the pump station with characteristics that show strong evidence of artificiality. Even the trenches and basins show several very straight sides and many traces of artificial processing. But there are also striking deviations within these structures.
Here just few examples:
The sides of Basin III, which contains the geoglyphs, were partly cleanly cut out of the rock. But we can see that this basin have a protruding edge (Marking A) and even a part of the feets of the animal geoglyph is
incorporated into this protruding edge. why was this done? It would have been a simple task to break out this corner to create a straight clean side without an interferrence with the geoglyphs inside the basin. On the opposite side of the basin is another weird corner (Marking B). It would make sense to build a basin as rectangular as possible. What is the reason for this discrepancy? The entire structure was built at great expense
but irregularities like these seem to make no sense.
Marking C is another interessting example for an odd irregularity. We do know that Trench A leads to Basin I. The shortest route between two points is a straight line. However this trench/canal is not built in a straight line and it contains a large curve in the middle. One might assume that natural rock structures were used to keep the efforts low. They just modified these natural structures. So, this curve could be part of a natural geological depression. But there is a strange irregularity at the curve. It looks like that rock was also broken off against the flow direction. Was this an accidental slip? Or an unfinished construction task? Or was this again done by intention?
Marking D shows a formation of darker lines, possibly small channels. Also the markings E and F point to structural inconsistencies. In the context of the whole plant it does not seem, that these are natural geologic shapes but artificial ones. Perhaps these are also structures that would be surrounded by water. In this case the shape of these structures could play an important role. We found 20 other inconsistencies and therefore we were forced to think again about the true nature of this plant. It is clear, that there must be something that we still did not understand.
At this point we have checked again the contrast-enhanced image of the entire plant and noticed something new. Maybe you can also see it in the following image. Just look carefully and check the whole shape of this structural anomaly. The whole time it was in front of our eyes but we did not recognise it.
At the first glance the outlines of two other stylized figures can be recognized. One of them has similarities with a bird, that other one with a snake / dragon. A coincidence? A very interesting aspect is that from all directions we can see more figures. Just turn around the image and
find new ones. It is striking that the discovered irregularities reinforces the impression to recognize figures. All inconsistencies can now be explained by the assumption that the builders tried to create giant figures.
However, I am always very skeptical when it comes to see figures in geological structures, that have be of artificial origin. Far too often the surprising variety of nature is underestimated. It is important to prevent
the cloud watching effect. There still exists the possibility, that the figures are a product of nature. To underline the artificiality, it is neccessary to show that there is not just only the similarity with animals we know. We found a whole series of reasons why this is probably not a natural phenomenon.
Location: The animal figures can only be seen within the striking geological structure (within the trenches and basins). Not somewhere else at a random place.
Quantity: An unusually high number of animal figures. We were able to clearly identfy 10 figures (plus the two geoglyphs).
Quality: Most of the figures can be clearly identified as animals. Moreover there are many geological structures that reinforce the impression of an certain animal. All important anatomical features are present and correctly placed. Wherever we find a head-like structure, we can find the corresponding mouth and eyes and the matching body shape.
Architecture-related: Some of the figures seem to have been placed in such a way, so that they are just surrounded by water or completely traversed by the water. so, they fulfill not only an artistic function, but also a technical one.
Optical effects: The most amazing, some of the figures are part of other figures. Furthermore you can turn the image to all four cardinal dircetions and you can always recognize other figures. They are based on optical effects and illusions that we really know in the science and art since the last centuries.
Cultural significance:The shown figures are known worldwide.
- In Greek mythology, sea horses were the descendants of those horses that pulled Poseidon's chariot. (a connection with the geoglyphs?)
- The heraldic mythical creature of the sea lion represents a lion whose hind ends in a fishtail. There many medieval coat of arms showing this creature. But also older cultures like the moche in peru often depicted sea lions in their art.
- The turtle plays in many cultures an important role. Among the Hindus and also in the Maya aulture, the turtle is part of creation story.
The Mayans believed, that earth rested on the back of a turtle floating in the ocean.
- In the Hinduism God Vishnu transformed after a huge flood into a giant turtle and on the back of this turtle the world could emerge anew.
About the meaning of the geoglyphs we have already spoken.
As a last point we could still mention the presence of a pyramid and of a plant, where we assume that this one is a water pumping plant.
In relation to our culture development, this special kind of optical illusion is still not known very long. At least I know of no ancient culture that has used this kind of optical illusion. The only artistic examples that come up spontaneously in my mind are Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher. Via the Google Images Search, I found two interesting examples that have a relation to out topic.
Based on the theory that the builders tried to depict certain animals, we were able to reconstruct the following pictures:
Because of this, we checked again our previos reconstruction of the geoglyphs:
We had previously thought that the rear section of the geoglyphs had been damaged. We have started from false premises, because the rear section ended so abruptly. But actually, there is no damage. It was intended. Here again, the reconstruction of the basin:
If we rotate the image by 180 degrees, then we can see what was intended. There are similarities with a horse head. Also the rest of the body can be reconstructed over the entire structure. It,s not just a head, it's a complete depiction of an animal. And here again, we have the effect that from different viewing angles we can see different animal figures.
Conclusion:We are not talking about rocket technology. What we see here is though advanced hydraulic engineering but it is still explainable and we are even technically able to rebuild it. The presence of a plant that delivers water in large-scale is one of those things that we would also expect next to minings. However, the water plant in Terby goes far beyond the technical aspect. Obviously, the artistic aspect was equally important. But there is more we can learn from the Terby anomaly. Everything indicates that the Mars must have previously possessed another atmosphere. This plant dates to a time when Mars could still hold water in liquid form and there is even more we can learn. If the environmental conditions would have been difficult then you would build only the most necessary things. There would be no rescources for such shenanigans like animal geoglyphs or a "water park". This is another indication that the living conditions on mars has been very good.
I think, we have reached a point where it is difficult to find new revealing details based on this single image. For this we need more high resolution images from the immediate environment. It would be interesting if we could find out what was done with the stored water. There is still much to discover. Perhaps we can continue the investigations but that's all we have for the moment.
If yout think that there is something unclear, seems to be wrong, or you have found something new, feel free to post your opinion/critique/ideas.
