email alerts for postings and private messages

If you wish to be notified that other forum members have sent you private mail through the private mail system, you will have to set your preferences in the private mail area to alert you when private mail arrives. If you leave it set to "no" (which is the default setting) - you will never be notified that you have received private mail. You also have the option to be alerted of private messages by having the alert bounced to your email address.

If you want email alerts that someone has posted on a thread of interest to you, just bookmark it by clicking on "bookmark" at the top or at the bottom of that thread. Also, be sure to go into your profile and set your preferences to notify you by email on threads that you've bookmarked.

You can also manage which threads to keep bookmarked through your profile setting.
