There is a small white dome looking object in the lower left of this picture taken by curiosity 2 days ago. I've looked at dozens of mars photos and never seen anything like this. here a direct link from nasa: mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=0066MR0293009000E1_DXXX&s=66I wonder what it is sigh I don't think we'll ever find out. It doesn't look like any rock of the "brown or dark" variety you see in every other picture.

Thanks ponyrider.
Unfortunately, I don't know what it is either. It will be interesting to check and see if there are other photos taken of the same area from other angles.

This is an unusual anomaly that could be just an imaging artefact, but as we have seen with some NASA images it could be a distraction put in to take the attention away from other anomalies.
I think the image is a mosaic of images stitched together (at least it looks that way to me, as the anomaly and terrain look out of sync), the top part of the image looks fake to me, while the lower part of the image looks like a recent stream bed..... really strange image indeed, thank you pony for sharing 8-)

Hello Ponyrider, just noted your ' 1st Post ' and took an interest in it. In the first place, the pic is an outstanding obfuscational mess, put down within four horizontally spaced sections. As Xenon correctly notes ' the anomaly and terrain look out of synch ' and notes the top section (1/4) and lower ' stream bed ' (4/4). You mention that ' I've .. never seen anything like this '.. I have Ponyrider. The attached is an elementary enhancement/study of your ' white dome looking object ', and hopefully now, you needn't ' wonder what it is ' and, hopefully, encourages a new view of anomalies besides ' I don't think we'll ever find out '. Don't be discouraged Ponyrider .. because with a little fortitude, training and time .. we will prevail and get to the bottom of all these seemingly endless ' anomalies ' ..of this be assured. Cheers /-M ******************************************************************************* Attachments:
