looks like a details of some device appear from under the ice in the area closest to us (Sol 411):

Hello there, skull are very striking structures. It is much easier to find skull, than other bone parts. But I have now tried to find other parts, because they also have to exist. This is a small collection of images showing interesting similarities: The top row shows parts of bones that were left as residues in a desert area on earth. The bottom row is from Mars. These are all image sections of Sol 820 and 819. Accordingly, there will probably not only skulls but also other bone parts which are just difficult to identify. It is important to know that, because it would be strange if we would only discover skulls. But there is another bone part, that has distinctive features. It is the spine. The next step was to see if there are structures which resemble spines. And there is a candidate: (http://marsrover.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/p/819/2P199072917EFFAR00P2282L7M1.HTML) Here is a comparison object from the Sahara desert. These bones are also present in curved form, however I can't post an appropriate example because i only found license protected photos. Nevertheless, it seems to be a reproducible pattern. I like the "Ancient Aliens" theory. There are many details that this theory can explain, but these bones could be an indication of another new aspect. Namely, that before the visit of extraterrestrial beings, there has been already life on Mars. In the early days of its development Mars was similar to the Earth. It had a dense atmosphere, water in liquid form and it had a magnetic field. According to the statements of some planetary scientists, this period should have lasted longer than a billion years. So enough time for the development of simple live and apparently also of higher life forms. A very exciting aspect. Life could become much more common than previously thought.

Polluks you have great patience and great eyes to track these features down from other angles! Great job! ;D

Hi Marsrocks, hi Polluks! You both have created some very nice images. I have to show them some of my colleagues. They are certainly interested in that. I would possibly like to use some of them for another report on our site. We have so far focused only on artificial structures. Biological aspects had been peripheral issues but this should change now.

Thanks convex - I can't speak for Polluks, but you can use these images of mine on your site.
Many hands make light work. One idea I have been toying with is getting people together to make a short video - each contributing different parts of it - images - background sounds - background music, the written narration - measurements - finding comparison images - official links - the verbal narration, shooting the video image footage - etc. etc. - and possibly dedicating a part of the forum (a new subtopic) to do it. So, I am in favor of course, in contributing to a larger work.

I just made first experiences in creating video clips. Our own video project is still in progress. My appreciation to all who have already created and uploaded video clips. It is a very demanding job, especially if one want to do it really well and with attention to detail.
It would be a cool project and it would be an interesting experience to see how a group of different people from different parts of the world can work together. I would appreciate such a project.

Wallls of skulls. More monkey skulls than one can believe. Skulls and skulls and more skulls. They don't do graveyards as we know them. Anyway. It would be nice if a giant tourist ship showed up and hovered over a city, say London England....full of cute starWars aliens...so we could get on to those walls of skulls on Mars. Danger*** Falling Skulls*

Hi alphaj. I have also asked myself the question whether the number of discoveries correspond to realistic probabilities. Well, it would be handy if there were walls of skulls. But the opposite is the case. Spirit have created more than 150,000 images. On barely a dozen images skulls-like shapes can be well recognized. The other examples that exists are already difficult to assess. I personally would set here strict criterions, in order to keep misinterpretation as low as possible. Of course, it is possible that several structures are just a freak of nature. If we look at our own deserts here on Earth, then we can also see rarely fossilized bones. But here is an example of fossilized whale bones in a desert area in Egypt. These bones are just about 40 million years old but still very well preserved. With such a low reactive atmosphere like that of Mars, very good prerequisites are given for a long time preservation of such fossils. There are a number of comparative terrestrial objects, which are consistent with serveral objects on the rover images. So, this scenario is not completely out of thin air. However, one should also accept (even as a skeptic), that we will never see absolutly clear images/proves. That is the nature of the thing, which we are facing. So, such images like the shown one, of course, we will never get to see from Mars. Skepticism is entirely appropriate. If we stop doubting, then there will no truth anymore. Otherwise each story is accepted without thinking. Terrible imagination. The risk of being hit by a meteorite is much higher on Mars than of being hit by a monkey skull. :o But the idea is certainly entertaining. Currently, to me it looks like that the creation and the development of life, is a much more common process then some might believe. It would be a first step, if the Curiosity rover would "officially" find the first traces of (past) life. It would be a paradigm shift. Meanwhile, I'll buy a helmet. Just in case. :)
