Wonderful MR. You are answering a number of questions for me. This is a usefull collection of sample images. Thorough job.
Am I mistaken or are the CTX images more noisy than usual?
Fortunately the CTX images already cover a large part of Mars. Unfortunately, the resolution is too low, to directly identify striking structures. Even large artificial structures remain on CTX-shots almost invisible. Insofar it is quite useful as an additional means of control and as comparative medium. But we have no choice anyway. We must take what we can get.

Some of the CTX images have some really bad striping problems. I came across one in the area, that I think was really bad because of possible cloud cover.
Possibly, some of this striping type noise can be removed with gimp if someone with more time is interested in really trying to clean it up.
That said, I was pretty happy to get what we did out of P02... and B09..
Also, let me say that it looks like CTX is hitting this area really, really hard with lots of shots. What I have is probably only a part of what they've taken of it. I probably missed 2 or 3 that may include the Nefertiti on the periphery.

It is a amazing to see just how heavily this area has been photographed. The orange rectangles show the strips of land that have been imaged by the MRO CTX camera; red shows MRO Hirise. M03/05549 shows the approximate location of Nefertiti image: Yellow rectangles show MOC imagery locations.

Have tried to work out some surface detail through, and by blending-in, the obfuscation present in the pic. Just a different approach that may add some perspective to the overall analysis and results obtained. Cheers /M ****************************************************** Attachments:

The “Nefertiti Face on Mars” paper has been published in the current issue of the Journal of Space Exploration, (Volume 3, Issue 3, 2014). The paper - “Analysis of the Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Images of the Syria Planum Profile Face on Planet Mars” identifies a human-shaped profile face on the surface of Mars that resembles a young woman, crowned with a cylindrical headdress. The facial formation is documented in four separate NASA photographs that support the portraits 10 points of anatomical correctness. The authors include three members of the Society for Planetary SETI Research, Dr. Horace Crater, John P. Levasseur, George J. Haas and William R. Saunders of The Cydonia Institute. A link to a PDF version of the paper is provided - hereNote see article 4. Zip Monster
